- Place sugar, corn syrup, and water in a pan over low heat.
- Stir until sugar is dissolved, then cook to soft ball stage.
- In a bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.
- Pour half of the cooked syrup mixture over egg whites and continue to beat.
- Cook the other half of the syrup mixture until hard ball stage and then gradually add to the egg white mixture while beating.
- Add vanilla and beat until thick enough to drop from a spoon.
- Stir in chopped nuts.
- Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper to cool.
