Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • nuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place sugar, corn syrup, and water in a pan over low heat.
  2. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then cook to soft ball stage.
  3. In a bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.
  4. Pour half of the cooked syrup mixture over egg whites and continue to beat.
  5. Cook the other half of the syrup mixture until hard ball stage and then gradually add to the egg white mixture while beating.
  6. Add vanilla and beat until thick enough to drop from a spoon.
  7. Stir in chopped nuts.
  8. Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper to cool.
