- Heat together milk and margarine to scalding; do not boil. Cool to lukewarm.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Add cooled milk, salt, and sugar.
- Stir in potato flakes and enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and satiny.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 45 to 60 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and divide in half.
- Shape each portion into a loaf.
- Place the loaves seam side down in well-greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pans.
- Let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Bake in a 375°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown.
