Ingredients

  • 3 cups large apple slices
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Place the apple slices in the bottom of a buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar and lemon juice.
  2. Combine the flour and 2/3 cup sugar in a bowl.
  3. Add butter and mix until it forms a coarse, crumbly mixture.
  4. Spread the topping completely over the apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  5. Bake in a 375°F oven for 30 to 35 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Serve warm, topped with black walnuts and whipped cream if desired.
