Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Cream the shortening and peanut butter together.
  2. Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat well.
  3. Beat in the eggs until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Sift the flour, salt, and baking soda into the peanut butter mixture.
  5. Mix well until combined.
  6. Make small balls from rounded teaspoonfuls of dough.
  7. Place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet and flatten with a fork.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10 to 15 minutes.
