Ingredients

  • lettuce and spinach greens
  • chopped green onions
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Wash, drain, and dry the lettuce and spinach greens.
  2. Add chopped green onions to the greens and set aside.
  3. Fry bacon in a large skillet until crisp; drain and set aside.
  4. Pour off all but about 3 tablespoons of hot bacon fat from the skillet.
  5. Combine cider vinegar, water, light brown sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Pour the vinegar mixture into the skillet with hot bacon fat.
  7. Place the skillet over hot coals or heat to bring the mixture to a boil.
  8. Remove from heat and pour the hot dressing over the greens and bacon.
  9. Toss lightly and serve immediately.
