Ingredients

  • apple juice
  • brown sugar
  • pineapple slices
  • maraschino cherries
  • whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Select a butt, shank, or whole smoked ham based on the number of guests coming.
  2. Soak the ham in water, changing several times over 4 to 5 hours to remove excess salt.
  3. Boil the ham in apple juice for 4 to 5 hours until tender.
  4. Allow the ham to cool in the apple juice.
  5. Trim any excess fat from the ham.
  6. Cover the ham with brown sugar, decorate with pineapple slices, maraschino cherries, and whole cloves.
  7. Bake in a 300°F (about 150°C) oven until the glaze is formed.
