Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider sautéing the onions in a bit of olive oil before adding them to the soup. If you don't have lima beans, you can substitute with navy beans or any other white bean. For a heartier version, add diced vegetables like carrots or celery. To reduce cooking time, use canned beans—just add them during the last cooking stage to heat through.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Beverly Anne's Manybean Soup with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal. It also pairs beautifully with Baked Virginia Ham for a festive gathering. For a touch of freshness, consider topping each bowl with chopped parsley or a dollop of sour cream. This soup is perfect as a hearty lunch or dinner option.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can also freeze the soup for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then warm on the stovetop over medium heat, adding a splash of water or broth if it has thickened too much.

Can I make this soup vegetarian?

Yes, you can easily make this soup vegetarian by omitting the ham. For additional flavor, consider using vegetable broth instead of water and adding extra herbs or spices to enhance the taste.
