Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla, then beat for 1 minute at medium speed.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with water to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
  5. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8-inch pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes.
