Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Stir in beaten egg, cold water, and vinegar until dough comes together.
  4. Divide the dough into 5 equal parts and shape each into a ball.
  5. Wrap each ball tightly and refrigerate if not using immediately.
