Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. green pepper
  • 1/4 c. corn meal
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. canned tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Combine beef, onion, green pepper, corn meal, seasoning, milk and egg; blend thoroughly.
  2. Form into 12 balls.
  3. Roll in flour. Brown in hot grease in skillet.
  4. Add remaining flour and tomatoes; cover and bake in very hot oven, 450°, for 35 to 45 minutes. Serves six.
