Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon food coloring
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons oil flavoring

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  3. Cool the mixture slightly.
  4. Blend in food coloring and oil flavoring.
  5. Pour the hot candy into a greased pan.
  6. While the candy is still hot, score it with a knife to create creases.
  7. Allow the candy to cool for a few minutes to half an hour, then score again.
  8. Turn the pan upside down over a board and tap gently.
  9. Break the candy carefully along the scored creases.
