Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 5 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup oil

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside.
  2. Mix all the other ingredients together in a large bowl.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (246°C).
  5. Use the dough as needed to make biscuits.
  6. Dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  7. These biscuits can also be used for fried pies.
