Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 1/2 cups peeled diced apples

Instructions

  1. Cream together shortening and sugar; add egg.
  2. Mix and add sifted flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Add vanilla and mix well.
  5. Fold in chopped walnuts and peeled diced apples.
