Ingredients

  • 5 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 c. oil
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 package yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Put yeast in warm water and set aside to activate.
  2. Measure out the self-rising flour, sugar, and baking soda.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients well, then add the liquid ingredients: buttermilk, oil, and warm water.
  4. Mix the batter and let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the yeast to activate.
  5. Cook the biscuits as desired, then store any leftovers in a tight covered bowl and refrigerate.
