Hazelnut Toffee
Decadent hazelnut toffee combines crunchy toasted hazelnuts, rich caramel, and smooth chocolate for a delightful treat perfect for sharing or gifting.

- Line a large baking sheet with foil and sprinkle 1/2 cup toasted, chopped hazelnuts onto the center of an 8-inch square piece of foil; set aside.
- Butter the sides of a heavy 1-quart saucepan and melt the remaining butter.
- Add brown sugar and water to the saucepan and stir over medium heat to boiling.
- Cook to soft-crack stage (280°F), then remove from heat.
- Stir in hazelnut liqueur if using, and pour the caramel mixture over the hazelnuts on the prepared foil.
- Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot caramel and let stand for 2 minutes.
- When the chocolate is soft, spread it evenly over the caramel.
- Sprinkle the remaining hazelnuts on top.
- Allow the toffee to cool completely, then lift from the pan and break into pieces.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
