Ingredients

  • 35 saltine crackers
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with heavy foil.
  2. Arrange 35 saltine crackers on the sheet in 7 rows by 5 rows.
  3. In a saucepan, combine margarine, butter, and brown sugar; bring to a boil and cook exactly 3 minutes.
  4. Drizzle the hot caramel mixture evenly over the crackers.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately spread the chocolate chips over the hot surface.
  7. Allow to set until chocolate is firm before breaking into pieces.
