Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then set aside.
  2. Cream the Crisco and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the lightly beaten eggs to the creamed mixture and blend well.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with 1/2 cup of milk.
  5. Stir in the chopped walnuts or pecans.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving with butter.
