Herb and cheese bread combines melty mozzarella, fresh basil, and savory herbs on crusty French bread, making it perfect for sharing at gatherings or as a flavorful appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes, well drained
  • reserve liquid from tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup soft spread margarine
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine reserved tomato liquid, margarine, 1 1/2 cups cheese, mayonnaise, parsley, salt, and oregano. Process until smooth.
  2. Spread the mixture evenly onto each half of the French bread.
  3. Top with diced tomatoes, remaining cheese, and chopped basil.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.
  5. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Slice into 1 1/2-inch slices and serve.
