Herb rice is a flavorful, aromatic side dish featuring herbs and tender rice, perfect for complementing a variety of main courses, especially poultry and seafood.

Ingredients

  • 1 c. diced onion
  • 1 c. uncooked rice
  • 3 or more Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp. summer savory
  • 1 tsp. rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Melt margarine in a skillet and add diced onions and uncooked rice.
  2. Stir constantly until rice and onions are yellow.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a rice pot.
  4. Add marjoram, summer savory, rosemary, and salt.
  5. Prepare chicken stock by dissolving 3 chicken bouillon cubes in 2 cups boiling water or using prepared chicken stock.
  6. Add the hot broth to the rice mixture.
  7. Cook as you would for regular rice until tender.
