Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. thyme

Instructions

  1. Mix yeast, sugar, and 1/4 cup warm water until foamy.
  2. Add 1 cup warm water, melted butter, flour, and salt; mix and knead for 5 minutes.
  3. Place dough in a large greased bowl and let rise for one hour.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface with herbs (thyme, parsley, oregano).
  5. Divide the dough into 3 loaves, brush with butter, and stretch into long loaves.
  6. Bake on a cookie sheet at 375°F for about 25 minutes until golden.
  7. Cool the loaves overnight.
  8. Slice the cooled bread thin, brush with butter, and place on a cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes until crispy.
  10. Store the bread open to maintain crispness.
