Ingredients

  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 1/4 c. corn syrup
  • 3/4 c. canned milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Cook the sugar, corn syrup, canned milk, and water to 230° (soft ball stage).
  2. Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter or margarine.
  3. Beat the mixture until smooth and slightly thickened.
  4. Add milk as needed to soften the caramel.
  5. Wash and dry apples, insert sticks for handles, and dip apples into the caramel coating.
  6. Set on waxed paper and allow to cool and harden before serving.
