Holiday Vegetable Casserole

A comforting holiday casserole featuring tender asparagus, peas, water chestnuts, creamy mushroom soup, topped with cheese and buttery bread strips for a festive touch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans asparagus spears
  • 2 cans small fancy peas
  • 2 cans sliced water chestnuts
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Cheddar cheese
  • white bread

Instructions

  1. Drain all vegetables well.
  2. Layer asparagus spears on the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Mix small fancy peas and cream of mushroom soup; spread on top of the asparagus layer.
  4. Layer sliced water chestnuts on top of the pea mixture.
  5. Sprinkle grated Cheddar cheese over the water chestnuts.
  6. Cut white bread into strips, removing crusts.
  7. Dip bread strips into melted margarine or butter.
  8. Place buttered bread strips over the cheese layer.
  9. Bake at 350°F until bubbly and heated through.
