Ingredients

  • 1 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 3 c. milk
  • 1 lb. Velveeta cheese
  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni until al dente, then drain and transfer to a casserole dish.
  2. Slice the Velveeta cheese into pieces.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, then add the flour and stir to make a roux.
  4. Gradually add the milk to the roux, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened.
  5. Add the sliced cheese to the milk mixture and stir frequently until melted and creamy.
  6. Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked macaroni and mix well.
  7. Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter and toss with bread crumbs to coat.
  8. Sprinkle the bread crumbs evenly over the macaroni and cheese.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
