Ingredients

  • 1 (No. 2 1/2) can sliced peaches
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 c. margarine or shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c. peach syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Drain peaches and save 1/3 cup syrup.
  2. Place peaches in buttered baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle with 4 tablespoons sugar and orange rind.
  4. Heat in oven while preparing batter.
  5. Sift flour once; measure.
  6. Add salt and baking powder and sift again.
  7. Work in margarine.
  8. Add beaten egg and peach syrup.
