Hostess Peas combine crispy bacon, tender peas, and fresh lettuce for a savory side dish that pairs well with hearty meals and adds a touch of freshness.

Ingredients

  • 4 strips bacon
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 3 cups frozen LeSueur peas, cooked
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dice the bacon and sauté until crisp.
  2. Remove bacon from skillet and set aside.
  3. Saute minced onion in the bacon grease until translucent.
  4. Remove onion from skillet.
  5. Add cooked peas, butter, water, and shredded lettuce to the skillet and cook until the lettuce is wilted.
  6. Add the cooked bacon and sautéed onion back to the skillet.
  7. Heat through and serve.
