Ingredients

  • 1 cup Bisquick
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 can cherries, drained
  • 1 1/4 cups cherry juice and water mixed
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. To the Bisquick, add sugar and the drained cherries.
  3. Stir in milk to form a stiff dough.
  4. Spread the dough in a greased 10 x 6 x 2-inch or 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  5. Combine the cherry juice with water to make 1 1/4 cups, add remaining sugar, almond extract, and a few drops of red food coloring.
  6. Add butter and bring the mixture to a boil.
  7. Pour the hot cherry syrup over the dough.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
