Ingredients

  • 36 hot peppers
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 1 quart prepared mustard
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash peppers, cut off ends, and grind (seeds and all) in a food processor.
  2. Mix ground peppers with three-quarters of a quart vinegar. Add mustard, sugar, and salt.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring often, and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. In a separate saucepan, mix 1 cup of vinegar, flour, and water and cook until it starts to thicken.
  5. Combine the thickened mixture with the pepper mixture and cook until the desired spreading consistency is reached.
  6. Seal the hot spread in sterilized jars.
