Ingredients

  • 1 lb creamed cottage cheese
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large onion, chopped fine
  • 1 stick butter or oleo
  • 1/2 pint sour cream

Instructions

  1. Place the creamed cottage cheese in a bowl.
  2. Add the egg to the cheese and mix well.
  3. Add salt and flour to the mixture and stir until combined.
  4. On a floured board, knead lightly until the dough is smooth and does not stick to your hands.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into boiling, salted water.
  6. Cook until the dumplings rise to the top or are tender, about 10 minutes.
  7. Drain the cooked dumplings.
  8. While the dumplings are cooking, chop the onion finely.
  9. Fry the chopped onion in butter until golden.
  10. Pour the fried onion and butter over the drained dumplings.
  11. Serve the dumplings topped with sour cream.
