- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 1-pound loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, white flour, pinhead oatmeal, wheat germ, bicarbonate of soda, bran, sugar, and salt.
- Add the buttermilk and egg to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before removing from the pan.
- Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
