Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Mix sifted all-purpose flour, oatmeal, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Beat egg with honey and milk until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just moistened; the batter will be lumpy and not smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased pan.
  5. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 1 1/4 hours or until the crust is crusty and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Turn out the bread to cool.
  7. While still warm, brush the top with melted butter.
