Italian Drop Cookies are light, tender cookies with a hint of vanilla and nuts, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings or serving at gatherings with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk and vanilla, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  5. Fold in chopped nuts if desired.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
