Creamy, cheesy Italian Shells Casserole combines pasta, ground beef, marinara, and melted cheeses for a hearty, comforting dish perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. medium macaroni shells
  • 2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 qt. marinara sauce
  • 1 pt. sour cream
  • 16 oz. shredded Provolone cheese
  • 16 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni shells until al dente, then rinse and drain.
  2. Brown the ground chuck in a skillet.
  3. Add salt and pepper to the ground beef.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Line the bottom of a lasagna pan with half of the cooked shells.
  6. Spread half of the sour cream over the shells.
  7. Sprinkle half of each shredded cheese over this layer.
  8. Repeat the layers with remaining shells, sour cream, and cheese.
  9. Cover the pan and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes.
  10. Uncover and bake until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
