Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 (18 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 (6 oz.) can beer
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Sear the ground beef in a covered 2-quart pan with vegetable oil.
  2. Add tomato sauce, chopped onion, and garlic powder. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add chili powder, oregano, salt, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, beer, and Tabasco sauce.
  4. Simmer the mixture for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add water if necessary.
  5. Continue to simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Serve with garnishes such as pinto beans, chopped onions, or Cheddar cheese.
