Ingredients

  • 4 lb. boneless chuck roast
  • 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix
  • 6 large carrots
  • 8 potatoes
  • 2 c. water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Flour the roast on all sides and brown in hot oil.
  3. Salt and pepper both sides of the roast.
  4. Place the browned roast in a large skillet or roasting pan.
  5. Cut potatoes and carrots into bite-sized pieces and arrange around the roast.
  6. Pour water over the meat and vegetables.
  7. Sprinkle the Lipton onion soup mix evenly over the entire preparation.
  8. Cover the pan and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  9. Add hot water if needed to maintain gravy consistency.
