Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Duncan Hines Deluxe Yellow Cake Mix
  • 3/4 cups Crisco shortening
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 Tbsp milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 1/4 cups ground nuts
  • Red or Green Jelly

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a cookie sheet.
  2. Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine 3/4 cups Crisco shortening, 2 egg yolks, 1 tablespoon milk, 2 egg whites, and 2 tablespoons water until well blended.
  4. Add ground nuts (1 1/4 cups) to the mixture and stir.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes or until golden.
  7. Allow cookies to cool slightly and then make a small indentation in the center of each.
  8. Fill the indentations with red or green jelly.
  9. Let the jelly set before serving.
