Jewish Cookie Bars combine rich chocolate, coconut, and nuts in a layered treat, perfect for celebrations or satisfying a sweet tooth with its chewy and crunchy textures.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 2 cups coconut
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • chocolate frosting mix

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine, cocoa, and sugar together; then add eggs.
  2. Mix in flour and nuts until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into an 8 x 15-inch cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes and allow to cool.
  5. Mix coconut and sweetened condensed milk until combined.
  6. Spread the coconut and condensed milk mixture over the cooled cake.
  7. Bake until the topping is light brown, about 10 minutes at 350°F.
  8. Cool the bars completely, then frost with chocolate frosting.
  9. Sprinkle additional nuts on top if desired.
  10. Cut into 1-inch squares and place in paper baking cups.
