Jiffy Basic Sweet Dough

Ingredients

  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. melted shortening
  • 6 c. flour
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Put warm water into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add yeast and sugar; stir until dissolved.
  3. Add melted shortening, unbeaten eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour.
  4. Mix with an electric beater.
  5. Add 1 more cup of flour; continue beating with the beater.
  6. Add the last 3 cups of flour; finish beating with a spoon.
  7. Set in a warm place until doubled in size, then spoon onto a well-floured board.
