Ingredients

  • 5 apples
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the apples and place them in a buttered baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle the apples with 2 tablespoons of sugar mixed with cinnamon.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar, milk, and melted butter or margarine.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the milk mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter over the apples in the baking dish.
  7. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with whipped cream or custard sauce.
