- Pour 3 cups boiling water over the first five ingredients (butter or margarine, salt, flaxseed, sesame seed, crushed buckwheat).
- When the butter has melted, stir in the milk and the dissolved yeast.
- Add the whole wheat flour and enough white flour to form a kneadable dough.
- Uncooked oatmeal and/or cooked mashed potatoes can be added with the milk if desired.
- Then decrease the white flour as necessary to achieve the right consistency.
- For added flavor and texture, whole walnuts or hazelnuts can be incorporated with the milk.
- Knead the dough thoroughly.
- Let the dough rise until doubled in bulk, then punch down and let rise again.
- Punch down the dough and divide into about five loaves.
- Let the loaves rise again, then bake about 45 minutes at 350°F.
- Bread will sound hollow when rapped with knuckles, indicating doneness.
