Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup nuts (walnuts)
  • 2 3/4 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix well the shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, and eggs.
  2. Stir in evaporated milk and vanilla.
  3. Sift together the flour, soda, and salt.
  4. Combine the sifted dry ingredients with the sugar mixture.
  5. Blend in the nuts.
  6. Chill the dough for 1 hour.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
  8. Frost with browned butter frosting.
