Tips & Substitutions

For a more aromatic flavor, consider adding saffron strands soaked in warm water before mixing with the rice. If you don't have garlic powder, fresh minced garlic can be used instead, but adjust the quantity to taste. Feel free to substitute golden raisins with dried cranberries for a different sweetness. Adding a handful of peas can enhance the dish's color and nutrition.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Kashmiri Pulao warm as a main dish, or as a side to complement rich curries like Garbanzo Curry or Pakoray. A side of raita or a fresh salad can balance the dish's flavors. For a festive touch, garnish with additional slivered almonds and dried fruits before serving.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover Kashmiri Pulao can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, add a splash of water and microwave or steam gently to avoid drying out the rice. You can also pan-fry the rice with a little oil to refresh its texture.
