Delicious caramel oatmeal bars with chocolate chips, combining rich caramel, chewy oats, and sweet chocolate for a satisfying treat perfect for sharing at gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 48 caramel candies (14 oz. pkg.)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 6 oz. bag chocolate chips
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the caramel candies with water in the microwave until smooth.
  2. Mix flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, margarine, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Save 1 cup of the oatmeal mixture for topping.
  4. Press the remaining oatmeal mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the baked crust.
  7. Pour the caramel mixture over the chocolate chips.
  8. Crumble the reserved 1 cup of oatmeal mixture on top of the caramel layer.
  9. Bake for an additional 15 minutes at 350°F.
