Ingredients

  • 2 medium heads cabbage, shredded
  • 3 large carrots, grated
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1.5 cups white vinegar
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1.5 tablespoons celery seed

Instructions

  1. Combine shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped green pepper in a large bowl; set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, white vinegar, and salt; bring to a boil and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Allow the vinegar mixture to cool.
  4. Stir in celery seed and mustard seed into the cooled vinegar mixture.
  5. Pour the vinegar mixture over the vegetables, stirring well to coat.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.
