Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. round steak
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 heaping Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Optional: Add mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, or other vegetables as desired.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the margarine over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste, sugar, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the round steak and cook until browned on all sides.
  6. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until the beef is tender, about 30-40 minutes.
