Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. fat salt pork
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 (1 lb.) cans Boston style baked beans
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Scrape the rind of the salt pork.
  2. Score the salt pork deeply with a sharp knife.
  3. Place the onion in a deep casserole and add the baked beans.
  4. Bury the salt pork in the beans so only the rind shows.
  5. Combine molasses, dry mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and chili sauce in a bowl.
  6. Add enough cola beverage to make 1 1/2 cups and mix well.
  7. Pour the sauce mixture over the beans and pork.
  8. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) for 1 1/2 hours.
