- Saute onion and garlic cloves in butter or oleo.
- Brown meat. Combine onion and garlic with meat in a large pot.
- Pour in beans (you can use precooked dry pintos) and tomato juice.
- Add enough water to fill pot.
- Bring to a boil; then simmer 2 to 3 hours. Salt and pepper to taste.
- If you do not like a lot of tomato taste you can substitute 1 can of beef broth and 2 (8 ounce) cans of tomato sauce.
