Ingredients

  • 3/4 stick margarine
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 lb can unsweetened pitted cherries and juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a 9 x 9-inch pan, melt the margarine in the oven.
  3. In a bowl, mix 1 cup white sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted margarine without stirring.
  5. Pour the can of cherries and juice over the batter without stirring.
  6. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar evenly over the top without stirring.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
