Ingredients

  • 1 lb. bag lima beans
  • 2 qt. water
  • 1 ham bone
  • diced raw onions

Instructions

  1. Wash lima beans thoroughly; discard discolored, spoiled beans.
  2. Add beans to water along with the ham bone and bring to a boil.
  3. Cook, adding water as necessary, until beans are completely soft.
  4. Cook down the mixture to a thick, soupy consistency.
  5. Cut chunks of ham from the bone and add to the beans to cook through.
  6. Garnish with diced raw onions, if desired.
