Ingredients

  • 1 lb liver (beef or calf)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 Tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash the liver thoroughly.
  2. Heat a large skillet and add vegetable oil or butter.
  3. Dredge the liver in flour to coat evenly.
  4. Cook the liver on very slow heat until tender, then remove it from the skillet.
  5. Pour sliced onions into the skillet and cook until softened and caramelized.
  6. Add 1/2 cup water to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  7. Return the liver to the skillet.
  8. Cover the skillet and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  9. Serve hot with rice or mashed potatoes.
