Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 3/4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together and bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Spread with thick, sweetened spiced applesauce between layers and on sides after cake is cooled.
